Embossing with dies

Ever been frustrated with dies that don’t cut properly no matter what you do?!! Or, die cuts that just won’t come out of the die without tearing?!

These butterfly dies drove me to my wits’ end and I was ready to give up and destash them!
Then I remembered a technique from Online Card Classes which taught us to emboss using dies and then water colour the image.

So here I have two cards that I have made with panels embossed with the troublesome butterfly die from Spellbinders Shapeabilities! It is so easy to do and so beautiful !

For the first card, I did a light watercolour wash around the butterflies in grey, popped on some gemstones and mounted the panel onto a silver card base.
simple and elegant.

For the second card, I water coloured the embossed area as well as around it and again added gemstones and popped it onto a kraft card base.

I am trying these days to make cards without sentiments…just for versatility.
I am also trying to change my style of photographing..what do you think?
Thanks so much for stopping by…
Have a great day!
